Yogi Adityanath Hails BrahMos Role in ‘Operation Sindoor’, Highlights UP’s Defence Push at Times Samman 2026

Mumbai: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday highlighted India’s growing defence capabilities, praising the role of the BrahMos missile in “Operation Sindoor” while addressing the Times Samman-2026 ceremony held in Lucknow.

Speaking at the event, Adityanath said the BrahMos missile developed in Lucknow carried out the first strike during the operation, asserting that its impact sent a strong message globally.
“The BrahMos missile was developed in Lucknow. It executed the very first strike during ‘Operation Sindoor’, and the event left many of the world’s major powers visibly trembling,” he said.

Emphasising Uttar Pradesh’s growing role in defence manufacturing, the Chief Minister said the state is actively working to strengthen drone technology through improved coordination and innovation.
“We have advanced our efforts in the defence sector; specifically, we are working towards the development of drone technology. We will take these initiatives forward,” he added.

Adityanath also underlined the transformation in India’s defence preparedness, noting that the country was once heavily dependent on foreign nations for military needs.
“In the past, we depended on other nations, and our enemies exploited this weakness. That will no longer be the case,” he said, asserting that India has now emerged stronger and more self-reliant.

The event, organised to honour military excellence, was held at the Smritika War Memorial and was attended by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh among other dignitaries.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister visited Lakhimpur Kheri, where he distributed land ownership certificates to 331 Hindu families displaced from Bangladesh. He also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 213 development projects worth ₹417 crore across Lakhimpur Kheri, Dhaurahra, and Mohammadi.

Highlighting the government’s welfare initiatives, Adityanath said the “double-engine government” is committed to ensuring employment, citizen rights and dignity for every family. He also distributed loan cheques under the Chief Minister Youth Entrepreneur Development Campaign (CM-Yuva).

“This journey of heritage and development will continue relentlessly without stopping, without faltering, without bending,” he said, extending his wishes to beneficiaries and residents of the district.
