Won’t Contest Bihar Polls, Will Remain Soldier Of BJP: Pawan Singh

Mumbai: Popular Bhojpuri singer and actor Pawan Singh on Saturday dismissed rumours of him contesting the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, clarifying that while he continues to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he has no intention of running for office.

“I, Pawan Singh, want to tell my Bhojpuri community that I have not joined any party to contest the Bihar Assembly elections, nor do I intend to contest them. I am a true soldier of the party and will remain so,” Singh wrote on X, in Hindi.

The singer, often hailed as the ‘Power Star’ of Bhojpuri cinema, has a massive following among youth across Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. His statement comes amid heightened political activity in Bihar ahead of the 2025 Assembly polls.

Pawan Singh Reaffirms Loyalty to BJP

Pawan Singh’s clarification assumes significance as speculation was rife that the Bhojpuri star might make an electoral comeback after being expelled by the BJP earlier this year.

In May 2024, Singh was ousted from the party after he contested as an independent candidate from the Karakat Lok Sabha seat, defying the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). His decision to go solo led to a split in the NDA vote share, which ultimately benefited the opposition CPI-ML candidate, who went on to win the seat.

Despite the setback, Singh has maintained that his commitment to the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains unchanged, reiterating that he will “always stand by the party.”

Marital Dispute Grabs Headlines

Apart from politics, Pawan Singh and his wife Jyoti Singh have been in the spotlight due to their ongoing marital dispute, which has become a topic of widespread media discussion.

On October 8, both held separate press conferences, sharing their respective versions of events.
In Mumbai, Jyoti Singh made serious allegations against the singer, claiming she was given abortion pills multiple times and subjected to mental and physical abuse.

Responding later in the evening, Pawan Singh dismissed the claims as “one-sided and exaggerated,” adding, “How I behaved with her — only I, she, and God know that.”

The controversy continues to dominate entertainment and political circles, especially given Singh’s dual influence in Bhojpuri cinema and regional politics.

Why Pawan Singh Matters in Bihar Politics

Pawan Singh hails from the Shahabad region of Bihar — a politically crucial belt that includes Bhojpur, Arrah, Rohtas, Sasaram, Kaimur (Bhabua), and Buxar districts. The region has historically produced several influential leaders and remains a key electoral battleground.

With his deep cultural connect and loyal fan base, Singh’s statements — political or personal — often have ripple effects across the Bhojpuri heartland.
