VP Praises Op Sindoor, Compares It To Osama Bin Laden’s Killing

Mumbai: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday drew parallels between India’s recent cross-border counter-terror operation, Operation Sindoor, and the 2011 US raid that killed Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Speaking at an event organized by Jaipuria institutions, Dhankhar described the strikes on nine terror sites in Pakistan as India’s “deepest-ever cross-border strike,” emphasizing the precision and impact of the operation.
“Bharat has done it. And done it to the knowledge of the world,” Dhankhar declared, adding that the strikes had set a new “global benchmark” in counter-terrorism. Without directly naming bin Laden, he recalled the US mission on May 2, 2011, that eliminated the mastermind behind the September 11 attacks. “A global terrorist who planned, supervised, and executed attacks inside the US was ‘dealt with’ similarly,” he said, drawing a stark comparison between the two high-profile operations.
Precision Strikes on Terror Strongholds
The vice president highlighted that for the first time, India had conducted precise strikes deep inside Pakistani territory, targeting the strongholds of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) – two terror groups responsible for numerous attacks on Indian soil. He noted that the strikes were executed with such precision that only terrorists were harmed, underscoring India’s commitment to minimizing collateral damage while dealing decisively with terrorism.
The operation, which followed the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 civilians, marked a significant escalation in India’s counter-terrorism strategy. The Pahalgam attack, described by Dhankhar as the deadliest attack on civilians since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, triggered widespread outrage and calls for swift military action.
A Clear Message to the World
Dhankhar also referenced a strong message delivered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the global community from Bihar in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack. “Those were not empty words. The world has now realised,” he said, stressing that India’s resolve in combating terrorism has now been firmly established on the global stage.
The vice president’s remarks come amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, with both sides ramping up security measures and diplomatic posturing in recent weeks. As India continues to grapple with the threat of cross-border terrorism, Operation Sindoor stands as a powerful statement of its commitment to safeguarding its citizens and its sovereignty.
