UP Woman Marries Lord Krishna Idol in Full Hindu Wedding Ceremony, Sparks Widespread Discussion

Budaun, Uttar Pradesh:A unique wedding from Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun district has captured regional attention after a 28-year-old woman married an idol of Lord Krishna in a complete Hindu ceremony. Pinky Sharma, a postgraduate and a lifelong Krishna devotee, solemnized the marriage on Saturday in Byour Kasimabad village under Islamnagar police station limits.
The celebration unfolded like any traditional wedding. The house was beautifully decorated, a mandap (wedding pavilion) was erected, and Pinky’s brother-in-law, Indresh Kumar, arrived in a car carrying the idol of Lord Krishna, dressed as a groom. About 125 people joined the baraat, receiving a warm welcome upon arrival.
Traditional Rituals Performed with Devotion
During the ceremony, Pinky carried the idol in her arms as she took the stage. She exchanged garlands with the deity and also performed the sindoor daan ritual. Artists from Vrindavan presented devotional dance performances, and a community feast was organized for the entire village.
The rituals continued as Pinky took seven sacred pheras around the holy fire while holding the Krishna idol. A traditional farewell ceremony was held the next morning — though she continues to reside at her parental home.
Divine Signs Led to Her Decision
According to her father, Suresh Chandra, Pinky’s devotion to Krishna began in childhood. She frequently visited Vrindavan and found spiritual solace in temple visits.
Approximately four months ago, Pinky received what she describes as a divine message: a pure gold ring unexpectedly fell into her scarf during prasad distribution at the revered Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan. She interpreted this as a blessing and resolved then that she would marry no human — only Lord Krishna.
Her family recounts another moment of faith when, despite being ill, she carried a heavy idol through Vrindavan while performing the Govardhan parikrama. She later recovered, which strengthened her belief that Krishna personally protects her.
A Family Standing Behind FaithSuresh Chandra expressed his full support for Pinky’s spiritual choice and has assured that she will receive an equal share in family property like his sons. Her mother, Ramendri, admitted the idea was initially surprising but said they agreed once they understood her genuine devotion.
“My Life Belongs to Krishna,” Says PinkySpeaking to reporters, Pinky said: “Education and worldly life have their place, but my true peace lies in devotion. My life is dedicated to Lord Krishna — through surrender, I have found my purpose.”
