‘Terminate Their Membership!’ Sanjay Singh’s Big Move After AAP MPs Join BJP

Mumbai: The political showdown between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intensified on Saturday, with senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh launching a fierce attack over the defection of party MPs to the BJP. Reacting strongly to the development, Singh termed the move “illegal, unconstitutional, and against parliamentary rules,” alleging a blatant violation of the anti-defection law. “Seven people announced joining the BJP in a manner that is completely wrong legally. This is unconstitutional,” he said. Also Read: From AAP Insider to BJP Face: Swati Maliwal Drops Bombshell Allegations Against Kejriwal

Invoking constitutional provisions, Singh asserted that any form of split or breakaway within a party does not hold legal validity. “The anti-defection law clearly states that such factional divisions are not allowed in the Assembly, Rajya Sabha, or Lok Sabha,” he added.

Escalating the matter, Singh announced that he would formally approach the Rajya Sabha Chairman—Jagdeep Dhankhar—seeking strict action against the defecting MPs. “I will write to the Chairman requesting that the membership of all seven Rajya Sabha MPs be terminated,” he said.

He also alleged that some of the MPs were already in touch with BJP leadership prior to their official switch. “At least three of them were seen visiting the BJP office even before the announcement,” Singh claimed.

The controversy erupted after a major राजनीतिक jolt to AAP, as several of its Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha, formally joined the BJP. Chadha had earlier been removed as AAP’s deputy leader in the Upper House, fuelling speculation about his exit.

Addressing the media on Friday, Chadha confirmed that two-thirds of AAP’s Rajya Sabha members would merge with the BJP effectively formalising a split that had been brewing for weeks.

While AAP leaders have reacted with anger and legal threats, the BJP has welcomed the development, calling it a “natural shift.” Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said the move reflects growing disillusionment within AAP.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Nitin Nabin extended a warm welcome to the defecting MPs at the party headquarters, urging them to contribute towards the vision of a “Viksit Bharat by 2047.”

As the battle now heads towards a legal and constitutional showdown, all eyes are on the Rajya Sabha Chairman’s next move one that could have far-reaching implications for parliamentary politics and the stability of party alignments.
