Tejashwi Yadav Accuses JD(U)-BJP Govt of Anti-Dalit Policies at Patna Conference

Mumbai: Bihar’s Leader of Opposition and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the ruling JD(U)-BJP government, accusing it of pursuing “anti-Dalit policies” over the past two decades.
Speaking at the Pataliputra Dalit Conference organised by the National Confederation of Dalit and Adivasi Organisations (NACDAOR), Tejashwi alleged that despite the Scheduled Caste population comprising over 21.3% of Bihar’s population, their participation in government and professional sectors remains “restricted to just 1.13%.”
Taking to X, he wrote: “For 20 years, the RSS policy of the Nitish-BJP double-engine government has led to anti-Dalit policies, due to which Dalits remain excluded from real opportunities.”
Tejashwi highlighted severe inequalities in education, land rights, and employment, claiming that only 0.015% of Bihar’s Scheduled Caste population are doctors and 0.1% are engineers. He also accused the state government of diverting funds meant for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes under the sub-plan.
“The Bihar government is using the funds allocated under the SC-ST sub-plan for other purposes. When it comes to scholarships, progress, and welfare of Dalit students, this anti-Dalit government hides behind excuses of fund shortages,” he alleged.
The RJD leader further targeted Union Ministers Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi, accusing them of remaining silent on Dalit issues after sharing power with the NDA.
“Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi, who call themselves Dalit leaders, have maintained complete silence on the exploitation of Dalits after getting a share in power,” he wrote.
The sharp remarks come ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections later this year, where the Mahagathbandhan (RJD-Congress alliance) is gearing up to challenge the ruling NDA (JD(U)-BJP).
