SOVAKA Lifesciences Introduces Pune’s First Clinical Dental Radiology Technician Training Program

Pune, Maharashtra: India’s dental healthcare sector is witnessing a rapid shift towards advanced diagnostic imaging, with technologies such as Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) and Orthopantomogram (OPG) becoming standard tools for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. However, as clinics invest in sophisticated equipment, the shortage of trained professionals to operate these systems has emerged as a significant challenge.

To help address this growing gap, SOVAKA Lifesciences (OPC) Pvt. Ltd. has launched a Dental Radiology Technician Training Program in Pune. Designed as a one-month practical course, the initiative focuses on preparing aspiring professionals through hands-on learning in real diagnostic centres rather than traditional classroom settings.

The program builds upon the clinical expertise and operational experience of Nidaan, which has been serving Pune’s dental imaging sector for more than 40 years.

Addressing a Growing Need in Dental Diagnostics

Modern dentistry increasingly depends on high-quality diagnostic imaging to support procedures such as dental implants, orthodontics, maxillofacial surgery and endodontics. While the adoption of CBCT and OPG systems has accelerated, industry experts believe the supply of trained technicians has struggled to keep pace.

Drawing on decades of experience in oral radiology, SOVAKA Lifesciences has developed its training program to bridge this gap by combining technical education with practical clinical exposure.

Rather than relying solely on classroom instruction, trainees work inside operational Nidaan CBCT & OPG centres, gaining first-hand experience with imaging equipment, patient interaction and day-to-day radiology workflows.

Training in a Real Clinical Environment

The one-month course has been designed to provide participants with the practical skills required in modern dental imaging centres.

Students are trained in patient positioning, image acquisition protocols, FDI tooth numbering, Frankfort plane alignment, TMJ positioning, radiation safety following AERB guidelines, and digital imaging systems including DICOM and cloud-based PACS workflows.

Learning alongside experienced professionals enables participants to understand not only how imaging equipment functions but also how quality, safety and efficiency are maintained in a busy diagnostic environment.

Open to Students Across Educational Streams

SOVAKA has adopted an inclusive approach to admissions, making the program accessible to candidates from a variety of educational backgrounds.

Applicants should be at least 18 years of age, have completed Class 12, possess basic computer knowledge and be comfortable learning in English, Marathi or Hindi.

Importantly, the company has clarified that a science background is not essential. Students from Arts, Commerce, vocational education and other streams can also apply, with no prior healthcare experience required.

According to the organisation, enthusiasm, professionalism and a willingness to learn are considered equally important as academic qualifications when preparing candidates for careers in dental radiology.

A Local Initiative for Local Talent

The current batch is exclusively open to applicants from Pune and nearby regions.

Since training takes place within functioning diagnostic centres, the company has chosen to maintain smaller batches that allow trainees to receive individual attention while working in live clinical settings.

This regional focus is intended to strengthen Pune’s own healthcare workforce by creating skilled professionals who can contribute directly to the city’s expanding dental imaging infrastructure.

Creating Career Opportunities

The program has been designed with employment outcomes in mind.

Participants who successfully complete the course and demonstrate strong technical ability and professional conduct may be considered for opportunities within the growing SOVAKA and Nidaan network. Potential career paths include CBCT Technician, OPG Technician, Radiology Workflow Coordinator and Diagnostic Centre Operations Executive.

Graduates will also be enrolled in the SOVAKA & Nidaan Certified Professionals Registry, providing employers with a verified record of trained candidates.

Supporting the Expansion of Dental Imaging Services

The launch of the technician training initiative complements SOVAKA Lifesciences’ ongoing expansion of the Nidaan CBCT & OPG network through its Franchise-Owned, Company-Operated (FOCO) model.

Under this approach, franchise partners establish imaging centres while SOVAKA manages radiology staffing, operational protocols, cloud-based reporting systems and technology infrastructure.

The company currently operates six diagnostic centres, performs more than 1,000 CBCT scans each month, and supports reporting through a centralized team of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiologists, delivering reports within 12 to 24 hours.

As the network continues to grow, the technician training program is expected to play an important role in developing the workforce required to support new centres across Maharashtra.

Building an Integrated Dental Imaging Ecosystem

Beyond technician training, SOVAKA Lifesciences is working towards creating a connected dental imaging ecosystem that combines advanced technology with standardized clinical operations.

Its long-term vision includes cloud-enabled imaging infrastructure, AI-assisted reporting solutions, centralized radiology services and teleradiology networks that improve efficiency while supporting dentists and diagnostic centres across the region.

By integrating workforce development with technological innovation, the company aims to contribute to the future of dental diagnostics in India while creating meaningful career opportunities for young professionals.

Applications for the Dental Radiology Technician Training Program are currently open on a rolling basis, with admissions subject to training capacity and batch availability.
