Ravneet Singh Bittu Steps Down as Union Minister of State for Railways

Mumbai: Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu has tendered his resignation from the Union Council of Ministers. President Droupadi Murmu accepted the resignation with immediate effect following the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi under Clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution of India, according to an official communique released by Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The departure follows the conclusion of Bittu’s term in the Rajya Sabha on June 21. Representing Rajasthan in the Upper House from August 2024 through June 2026, he was originally nominated to fill the seat vacated by Congress leader KC Venugopal. Having served in the Union Council of Ministers since 2024, Bittu is expected to shift his political focus toward the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections scheduled for next year.
In a statement shared shortly after the formal acceptance of his resignation, Bittu expressed appreciation to both the President and the Prime Minister for the opportunity to serve in the central government.
