Rakul Preet Singh Takes Sly Dig at Bollywood? Says Tollywood Is More United While Mumbai Thrives on ‘Negative PR’

Mumbai: Actress Rakul Preet Singh has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding Bollywood and South Indian cinema, praising the Telugu film industry for its unity while stating that Bollywood is often affected by insecurity and negative PR. Her remarks have sparked fresh discussions across social media, with many fans applauding her candid opinion.
Rakul Preet Singh Sides With South Indian Cinema
Rakul Preet Singh began her acting journey with the Kannada film Gilli before establishing herself as one of the leading actresses in Telugu cinema. She later made her Bollywood debut with Yaariyan in 2014. Despite her successful career in Hindi films, Rakul said she continues to admire the work culture in the Telugu film industry.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, the actress said the Telugu film industry has always been supportive and united, with actors, filmmakers and producers openly backing one another’s projects.
“Filmmakers in Tollywood openly support one another’s films, trailers, and promotional events. They celebrate each other’s successes without hesitation despite competition,” she said.
‘Negative PR’ Has Become Common In Bollywood
Drawing a comparison with Bollywood, Rakul said such a culture of mutual support is largely missing in Mumbai. According to the actress, insecurity within the industry has contributed to the rise of negative PR campaigns.
“Telugu industry is more supportive and United than bollywood industry, in Bombay they don’t support each others films because of insecurity and jealousy, instead they do negative PR against each other. On the other hands in Telugu industry everybody support each other’s trailers, movies & celebrate each others success, if bollywood brings that quality then we are the strongest one.”
She added that if Bollywood moves away from negative PR and embraces a more collaborative culture, the Hindi film industry could become even stronger.
Internet Reacts To Rakul’s Remarks
Rakul Preet Singh’s comments have reignited the Bollywood versus South Indian cinema debate on social media. While several Telugu cinema fans praised the actress for acknowledging Tollywood’s supportive environment, others discussed whether Bollywood needs to adopt a more collaborative approach.
Rakul Preet Singh’s Upcoming Projects
Rakul Preet Singh was last seen in Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Sara Ali Khan. She is also reportedly set to feature in Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, where she is expected to portray the role of Surpanakha in the much-awaited mythological epic.
