Raja Beta… Puppet’: Kangana Ranaut Tears Into Rahul Gandhi at Summit

Mumbai: BJP MP and Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut launched a scathing attack on Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, saying the Congress party needs a better face if it wants to save itself from going into oblivion.

Speaking at the Rising Bharat Summit 2026 on February 27, Ranaut said, “I think the Congress party itself is ashamed of Gandhi’s behaviour. The party has no future but if they want to save themselves then they need a better face.”

Ranaut also termed Rahul Gandhi’s behaviour as similar to “taporis and mawalis”.

“The behaviour of Rahul Gandhi in the Parliament is similar to taporis and mavalis. The way he talks to BJP leaders and behaves… it won’t be surprising if he stoops even lower.”

She added that whenever Rahul Gandhi speaks in Parliament, it feels like a “comedy” and BJP MPs could not stop laughing. “He is like a Raja beta. He is used to everyone cheering him on…I would also say that he is very disrespectful… he has disregard for the Parliament, for the Constitution and the people of the country.”

Ranaut said Gandhi is “dangerous” for the country and also an “idiot”. “He is a puppet in the hands of foreign powers,” she said.

Referring to Mahatma Gandhi, Ranaut said he had wished to disband the Indian National Congress after India’s independence. However, Jawaharlal Nehru did not listen to him. “I think Rahul Gandhi will fulfil his wish,” she said.

Referring to the Youth Congress workers’ protest at the recently held AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, Ranaut termed the incident “shameful” and “condemnable”. She slammed Gandhi for backing the protesters, saying the Congress leader has “lost his mind”.

Last year, the actor faced backlash after asking flood victims in Himachal Pradesh to consider her position as well, referring to her cafe in the state that was apparently not very profitable.

“Imagine what I must be going through…I also have a restaurant here. Yesterday, I only did Rs 50 worth of business. I have salaries of Rs 15 lakh to pay. Please understand my pain too, I am human as well,” she had said while speaking to a woman who was asking her questions related to the floods.

With her latest remarks, Ranaut has once again intensified the political war of words between the BJP and the Congress leadership.
