Operation Sindoor Proves India’s Zero-Tolerance Policy Against Terrorism, Says Rajnath Singh

Mumbai: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday hailed Operation Sindoor as a testament to India’s political, social, and strategic willpower, underscoring the nation’s uncompromising stance against terrorism. Speaking virtually at the inauguration of the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility Centre in Lucknow, Singh highlighted the significance of the operation, which targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) without impacting civilian areas.

“Operation Sindoor has proven that no safe haven exists for terrorists beyond India’s borders. Through the surgical strikes after Uri, air strikes after Pulwama, and now multiple strikes after Pahalgam, India has shown its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, New India takes decisive action on both sides of the border,” Singh stated.

Singh also accused Pakistan of retaliating by targeting Indian civilian areas, including religious sites, in response to the strikes. “Our Armed Forces displayed valour and restraint, responding by striking multiple Pakistani military bases—even in Rawalpindi, the heart of Pakistan’s military headquarters,” he remarked, emphasizing the discipline and precision of India’s armed forces in handling cross-border operations.

The Defence Minister praised the newly inaugurated BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility Centre as a significant milestone in India’s journey towards self-reliance in defence. The facility, opened on National Technology Day, aligns with India’s ongoing technological advancements and its push to strengthen its defence capabilities.

Describing the BrahMos missile as a “message of deterrence to adversaries,” Singh highlighted the missile system’s critical role in securing India’s borders. He noted that the BrahMos is a product of India-Russia collaboration, combining top defence technologies from both nations. “Unless India stands up to the world, no one will respect us. Fear has no place; only strength respects strength,” he quoted former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

Singh also highlighted the economic impact of the Defence Industrial Corridor in Uttar Pradesh, where the BrahMos facility is located. He noted that the corridor has already created 500 direct and 1,000 indirect jobs, contributing to the region’s economic growth.

“So far, 180 MoUs worth ₹34,000 crores have been signed in UPDIC, with ₹4,000 crores already invested,” Singh said, adding that defence projects in aircraft manufacturing, UAVs, ammunition, and critical materials are underway.

The BrahMos facility, Singh added, is a matter of pride for the region, symbolizing India’s rise as a global power in defence production and its commitment to self-reliance under the government’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
