Mumbai: In a major development surrounding the national outrage over exam paper leaks, Bollywood actor Salman Khan has appealed to education activist Sonam Wangchuk to break his ongoing hunger strike. Khan also urged protesting students across the country to return home safely to their families, citing assurances of strict action given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Reaching out through a social media post, Salman Khan directly addressed Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite fast since June 28 demanding systemic educational reforms and accountability for student paper leaks.
“Sonam, it’s done, bro. Don’t extend this. Keep the spirit for another day if there is a need, which I doubt, and eat something. If you want, I will send you food from home,” Khan wrote, offering his personal support to the Ladakh-based climate and education reformer.
Wangchuk, globally recognized for his work in educational innovation, has been leading the agitation at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and hospital sites, becoming a central figure in the student movement.

Addressing the thousands of students and parents affected by the NEET-UG paper leak controversy, Khan emphasized that youth safety and academic futures remain top priorities. He requested students to cease street demonstrations and return to their normal lives.
“The students are at the top priority, educationally and security-wise, so they need not worry and have their parents worried for them. The Honorable Prime Minister has tweeted, and I am sure that he will take strict action against all those people who are responsible for this leak. So students, please go back to your parents and homes,” Khan urged.

Warning Against Political Hijacking
The latest statement follows Khan’s previous post where he praised the courage of students holding peaceful demonstrations while cautioning that their movement must not be exploited for political gain.
Celebrity Backing: Beyond Khan, prominent figures including Omi Vaidya, Zeenat Aman, Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Abhay Deol, Sonakshi Sinha, and Riteish Deshmukh have voiced support for the protesting students.
