NEET Paper Leak Row: Maharashtra BJP Chief Terming CJP-Led Protest as “Sponsored” Agitation

Mumbai: Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Ravindra Chavan has launched a sharp political attack on the opposition, describing the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led demonstration over alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) as a “sponsored” agitation.

Speaking to media representatives in Nagpur on Wednesday, the senior BJP leader claimed that the political forces backing and funding the protest would soon be identified and exposed to the public.

Action Taken Against NEET Irregularities

Defending the Central Government’s response to the examination controversies, Chavan emphasized that swift measures have already been taken against those involved in the paper leak case.

• Law Enforcement Response: Seven to eight key individuals linked to the paper leak have already been arrested and remain in judicial custody.
• Focus on Development: Chavan pointed out that the nation is experiencing rapid infrastructure and social growth under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing the opposition of fabricating outrage to stall progress.

Opposition Accused of Factional Political Agenda

Chavan alleged that the Opposition alliance is exploiting student concerns solely to serve its own political interests. He noted that various constituent parties in the opposition hold conflicting agendas and are attempting to gain political leverage from the student-led agitation.

“In a few days, it will become known who has sponsored this agitation, and that will be revealed to the public,” Chavan asserted during the event.

Earlier in the day, Chavan attended a high-profile Mahayagya organized in Nagpur to commemorate the birthday of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Ongoing Protests and Hunger Strike in Delhi

The CJP-led agitation began on June 20, with demonstrators demanding structural reforms in the national examination framework, official accountability, and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

• Sonam Wangchuk’s Hunger Strike: Noted climate activist Sonam Wangchuk joined the demonstration on June 28 and has been on an indefinite hunger strike.
• Hospital Transfer: Following orders from the Delhi High Court, Wangchuk was relocated from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital, where he continues his fast.
