LeT Deputy Chief Exposes Pakistan Army–Terror Nexus, Issues Fresh Threats to India

Mumbai: In a startling admission that directly contradicts Pakistan’s long-standing claims of distancing itself from terrorist organisations, a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leader has openly acknowledged his close association with the Pakistan Army. Saifullah Kasuri, deputy chief of the Hafiz Saeed-led terror outfit and a key accused in the Pahalgam terror attack, claimed that the Pakistani military routinely invites him to official functions and even asks him to lead funeral prayers for its soldiers.

Kasuri made the remarks while addressing school children at an event organised at a school in Pakistan. An undated video of his speech, which has recently surfaced, has triggered serious concerns over the Pakistani military’s alleged patronage of proscribed terror groups.

“The Pakistan Army sends me invitations. They invite me to attend their events and even call me to lead funeral prayers for their soldiers,” Kasuri is heard telling the audience. His comments provide rare public confirmation of the deep nexus between Pakistan’s military establishment and banned extremist organisations operating from its soil.

Claims Undermine Pakistan’s Anti-Terror Narrative

Kasuri’s statements sharply undermine Pakistan’s repeated assurances to the international community that it is taking decisive action against terror groups. His public admission exposes what security experts describe as institutional cooperation between the Pakistan Army and terrorist outfits, highlighting the scale of military involvement in sustaining extremist networks.

During the speech, the LeT leader also issued provocative remarks directed at India, claiming that New Delhi is “scared” of his presence. “Do you know India is afraid of me?” he said, attempting to glorify his role in cross-border terrorism.

Defiant Remarks on Kashmir and Operation Sindoor

Kasuri has previously acknowledged the impact of India’s military response, Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Despite conceding damage to terrorist hideouts, he claimed India had made a “mistake” by carrying out the strikes.

“India made a big mistake in Operation Sindoor by targeting only terrorist camps,” Kasuri said in another undated video, openly reiterating LeT’s commitment to its Kashmir agenda. He further declared that the outfit would “never retreat from the Kashmir mission,” reinforcing its continued intent to orchestrate violence in the region.

Boasting About Pahalgam Attack Allegations

In a separate public rally held in Kasur district of Pakistan’s Punjab province, Kasuri openly boasted about being named the mastermind behind the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. “I was blamed for being the mastermind of the Pahalgam attack. Now my name is famous across the world,” he told supporters, drawing applause from the crowd.

The April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam claimed the lives of 26 civilians, triggering nationwide outrage in India and prompting a strong military response.

India’s Operation Sindoor and Escalation with Pakistan

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack, carrying out precision strikes against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation led to four days of intense cross-border drone and missile exchanges between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

The escalation came to a halt on May 10 after India and Pakistan reached an understanding to end hostilities. Indian officials have maintained that the operation was aimed solely at dismantling terror networks and not civilian or military targets.

Growing Evidence of State-Terror Nexus

Kasuri’s remarks have added to mounting evidence cited by Indian authorities and international observers regarding Pakistan’s alleged state-backed support for terror groups. Analysts say such open admissions further weaken Pakistan’s credibility on counter-terror commitments and reinforce India’s position on the need for global accountability.

As investigations continue and diplomatic scrutiny intensifies, the resurfaced video is expected to play a significant role in shaping international discourse on terrorism emanating from Pakistan.
