India Sounds Alarm After US-Israel Strikes on Iran, Issues Advisories for Nationals Across Gulf

Mumbai: India on Saturday voiced deep concern over the rapidly escalating situation in West Asia, particularly in Iran and the wider Gulf region, following coordinated US-Israel strikes that have sharply heightened tensions.

In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said New Delhi is closely monitoring developments and their potential impact on regional peace and stability.

“India is deeply concerned at the recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region. We urge all sides to exercise restraint, avoid escalation, and prioritise the safety of civilians,” the MEA said.

Call for Restraint and Diplomacy

Reiterating its long-standing position, India emphasised that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path to de-escalation. The government also underlined the importance of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states, in line with international law and the UN Charter.

The statement came hours after the United States and Israel carried out coordinated strikes on Iran in what Israel described as a pre-emptive military campaign dubbed “Operation Epic Fury.”

US President Donald Trump confirmed that a “major combat operation” was underway, while explosions were reported across multiple locations in Iran.

Advisories for Indian Nationals

Given the large Indian diaspora in the Gulf and India’s significant economic and energy ties with West Asian countries, the MEA said the safety and welfare of Indian nationals remains a top priority.

Fresh advisories have been issued for Indians in Iran, Israel and several Gulf nations.

Indian missions in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait have urged citizens to remain cautious, closely monitor updates from local authorities, and strictly follow security instructions.

Embassies in Doha, Jeddah, and Abu Dhabi have activated 24×7 helplines and email support services to assist Indian nationals.

In Israel, the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv has advised nationals to exercise “utmost caution,” remain near designated shelters, familiarise themselves with protected spaces, and avoid all non-essential travel.

High Stakes for India

With millions of Indians living and working across the Gulf and West Asia and the region playing a crucial role in India’s energy security New Delhi is closely tracking the unfolding crisis.

As tensions rise and military operations continue, India’s focus remains on ensuring the safety of its citizens while urging all parties to step back from further escalation that could destabilise the entire region.
