From AAP Insider to BJP Face: Swati Maliwal Drops Bombshell Allegations Against Kejriwal

Mumbai: In a political development that has intensified the crisis within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal launched a scathing attack on party chief Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of being “anti-women” and indulging in “corruption and gundagardi,” just a day after formally joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking after her switch, Maliwal said her decision was driven by conviction rather than compulsion. “I joined the BJP because I believe in the leadership of Narendra Modi. I urge those who want to do constructive politics to join the BJP,” she stated.

Her exit marks a dramatic end to a nearly two-decade-long association with Kejriwal, dating back to 2006. Maliwal claimed she stood by him through major movements, including the RTI and Anna agitations, but was later subjected to “harassment and pressure” within the party.

In a series of explosive allegations, Maliwal claimed she was assaulted at her residence by a person linked to Kejriwal and was subsequently pressured to withdraw her FIR. “At his signal, I was beaten in my own house. When I raised my voice, I was threatened and pressured to stay silent. I was also denied any opportunity to speak in Parliament for two years,” she alleged.

She further accused Kejriwal of protecting the accused and rewarding him with influential positions, calling the entire episode “shameful.”

Maliwal didn’t stop there. Targeting AAP’s governance in Punjab, she alleged that the state is being “remotely controlled” and has turned into a “personal ATM” for party leaders. She also claimed that illegal sand mining and drug abuse are at alarming levels, while dissenting voices are silenced through FIRs.

“Arvind Kejriwal is known for corruption and gundagardi,” she said, escalating her attack.

Drawing a sharp contrast, Maliwal praised Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, crediting them for “historic decisions” such as the women’s reservation bill and strong action against terrorism and Naxalism.

Her remarks come amid a broader राजनीतिक churn within AAP, with several senior leaders, including Raghav Chadha, recently exiting the party and aligning with the BJP. The developments have triggered intense internal deliberations within AAP, with senior leader Manish Sisodia reportedly meeting Kejriwal to strategise the party’s next move.

As the political battle intensifies, Maliwal’s allegations have added a fresh layer of controversy, raising serious questions about internal dynamics within AAP. Whether these claims will have legal or electoral repercussionsnand how AAP responds remains to be seen.
