Afghanistan Backs India, Salms Pak’s Fake Claim That India Fired Missile At Afhan Territory

Mumbai: Kabul has firmly rejected Pakistan’s claims that India launched a missile attack on Afghan territory, with both Afghan and Indian officials dismissing the allegations as baseless and unfounded. The sharp rebuttals came after Pakistan reportedly made the claims earlier on Saturday, seeking to portray India as a threat to Afghanistan’s sovereignty.

Inayatullah Khawarizmi, a spokesperson for the Afghan Ministry of Defence, spoke to Hurriyat Radio, categorically denying the claims, stating, “There is no truth to these allegations.” The Afghan government has asserted that its territory has not come under attack from India, rejecting the narrative put forward by Pakistan.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also issued a firm response, with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri calling the claim “completely ludicrous” during a press briefing. He remarked, “There is this completely ludicrous claim that Indian missiles have hit Afghanistan. Totally frivolous allegation. And I only want to point out that Afghan people don’t need to be reminded about which country it is that has, on multiple occasions, in just the last 1.5 years, targeted the civilian population and civilian infrastructure in Afghanistan.”

Misri’s comments reflect the longstanding ties between India and Afghanistan, which have historically been marked by cultural, economic, and strategic cooperation. India has been one of Afghanistan’s largest regional donors, contributing over $3 billion for infrastructure, education, health, and development projects since the fall of the Taliban in 2001. Despite a reduced diplomatic footprint following the Taliban’s return to power in 2021, India maintains a technical team in Kabul and continues to provide humanitarian assistance.

Geopolitical analysts view Pakistan’s missile claim as an attempt to position itself as Afghanistan’s “defender” in the regional narrative, potentially to deflect attention from its own controversial history in Afghanistan. Experts argue that such claims are part of a broader strategy to cast itself as a victim, while attempting to undermine India’s influence in the region.

As tensions simmer, both India and Afghanistan have reiterated their commitment to maintaining stability and regional peace, while firmly rejecting attempts to misrepresent their longstanding bilateral relationship.
