Aaditya Thackeray Accuses BJP of Using ‘Ram Temple Loot’ Money to Buy MPs, MLAs; Targets Mumba Devi Redevelopment Plan

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that the party was using money “looted” from the Ram Temple project in Ayodhya to poach MPs and MLAs and was now eyeing land around Mumbai’s historic Mumba Devi Temple.

Addressing the media, Thackeray claimed the BJP was attempting to alter the country’s constitutional framework after falling short of a majority on its own.

“Ever since the BJP fell below the majority mark, they have wanted to change the Constitution and impose their own constitution on the country. That is why they are buying MPs and MLAs. They are getting this money from the alleged loot that took place in Ayodhya and Ujjain. They also want to grab the land around Mumba Devi, and we will fight against this too,” he alleged.

Targets Mumba Devi Temple Redevelopment

Thackeray’s remarks came in the backdrop of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) proposed redevelopment plan for the Mumba Devi Temple precinct.

He alleged that, similar to the controversies surrounding temple donations in Ayodhya and Ujjain, the BJP was now attempting to take control of land surrounding the iconic Mumbai temple.

Questions Role of Central Agencies

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader also accused the BJP of misusing central investigative agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax Department, in connection with the alleged irregularities linked to Ram Temple donations.

“ED, CBI and IT are puppets of the BJP. Why don’t they question Champat Rai and Anil Mishra? Who appointed them to the Trust? What is the role of the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the Central government in appointing the trustees?” Thackeray said.

He further claimed that while his party had consistently supported the construction of the Ram Temple, the BJP was seeking both political credit and financial gains from the project.

“We were the ones who raised the slogan ‘Pehle Mandir, Phir Sarkar’ in 2018, following which the Supreme Court delivered its verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi case. The BJP did not change the system, yet it wants to claim both the credit and the money,” he added.

Political Row Intensifies

The allegations come amid a growing political controversy over the alleged misappropriation of donations meant for the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.

The matter is currently under investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), while the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a batch of petitions on Monday seeking an independent, court-monitored probe into the alleged financial irregularities related to temple donations.

The BJP has not yet responded to Aaditya Thackeray’s latest allegations.
