16-Year-Old Girl Dies Of Suffocation While Bathing Due To Geyser Gas Leak In UP

Aligarh: A 16-year-old schoolgirl, Mahi, tragically died of asphyxiation following a geyser gas leak in the bathroom of her house in Kuldeep Vihar Colony on Friday. The incident occurred while her mother had gone to a nearby shop, leaving Mahi alone at home.
Upon returning, Mahi’s mother found the bathroom door locked and received no response to her calls. Family members revealed that the door had been locked from the outside as a precautionary measure due to Mahi’s history of fainting during baths.
When the door was opened, Mahi was found unconscious and rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
According to the family, Mahi had fainted in similar circumstances two years ago but had recovered. They attributed the tragedy to poor ventilation in the bathroom, which allowed toxic gases from the geyser to accumulate, leading to her death.
The incident has left the family and community in mourning, highlighting the dangers of gas geysers in inadequately ventilated spaces and the need for heightened awareness of household safety measures.
