₹29 Lakh From Instagram? Neha Sharma’s Subscription Model Leaves Internet Divided

Mumbai: Actor Neha Sharma has found herself at the centre of a social media storm after launching a paid subscription feature on her Instagram account, priced at ₹299 per month. The move, which offers followers access to exclusive content, has triggered a sharp divide in public opinion.

According to reports, Sharma’s subscription service has attracted close to 10,000 paying users, potentially generating earnings of nearly ₹29 lakh. Subscribers gain access to members-only posts, including exclusive photos, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and personal updates shared in a dedicated section. The subscription area is said to feature hundreds of stories along with a limited number of posts and reels, though the exact nature of the content remains unclear.

The development has sparked a wider debate around the growing trend of celebrities monetising their digital presence. While some users have criticised the move, likening it to a “lite” version of subscription-based platforms, others have defended it as a legitimate business model driven by demand.

The controversy has also drawn attention due to Sharma’s background. She is the daughter of Ajit Sharma, adding another layer to the ongoing discussion, with some questioning whether such monetisation aligns with public expectations from individuals linked to political families.

Reactions on social media platform X have been mixed. While some users expressed moral concerns over the nature of paid content, others took a more pragmatic view. “It’s easy money for her. Plus, there is demand for it,” one user wrote, reflecting a section of opinion that sees the move as a natural evolution of influencer-driven revenue streams.

Sharma, who rose to fame with her debut in the 2010 film Crook opposite Emraan Hashmi, has since appeared in films like Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, Tum Bin 2, and Mubarakan.

Despite the ongoing debate and scrutiny, the actor has not issued any official statement regarding the subscription service or the criticism surrounding it
